Remy hair although not virgin can still be classified as premium or superior quality hair. The term remy simply refers to the manner in which the hair was harvested before being sewn onto the weft. Remy hair is cuticle hair ( hair that was harvested with the cuticle left intact.) The importance of leaving the cuticle in place is that when the cuticle is left intact all of the hair flows in the same direction which greatly reduces tangling and matting. Remy hair is often colored treated , bleached , or chemically processed which is why it cannot be considered virgin hair.

There are several different varieties and or variations of both virgin remy and remy hair. Peruvian, Malaysian, Indian, Mongolian, Cambodian, Burmese, European and Brazilian Hair are all different varieties of hair extensions available on the market both as virgin remy and remy hair. The name of the hair is more often derived from its texture as opposed to the region or local that it comes from.
